New players added to the GB Hockey programme
GB Hockey has announced three new players that have been added to the set-up for the 2023/24 season.
Welsh player, Gareth Furlong, has joined the men’s side as they continue their build-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the next big international test coming in the form of the Pro League leg in London in June.
The 25-year-old has represented Wales at three Commonwealth Games and five European Championships. He has earned a total of 148 caps for Wales and scored 156 goals.
In the women’s side, Jessica Buchanan and Mila Welch will form part of the squad on a part-time basis.
Both goalkeepers, they will train alongside Sabbie Heesh and Miriam Pritchard in the build-up to this summer’s Games.
Buchanan has represented Scotland 12 times at senior level including the 2023 EuroHockey Championships and 2022 EuroHockey Junior Championships.
Welch has five caps for the England U21 squad which were all earned at the 2022 EuroHockey Junior Championships in Belgium.
