Great Britain’s Olympic Pools have been revealed for Paris 2024, confirmed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), following the completion of the FIH Olympic Qualifiers.
Great Britain’s Women have been placed into Pool B where they will face Australia, Argentina, Spain, United States and South Africa.
GB women will cross paths with Spain and South Africa again, who they played at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and will meet with Australia, Argentina and United States who they competed against at Rio 2016.
Great Britain’s Men have been allocated into Pool A where they will compete against the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France and South Africa.
They were drawn in the same Pool as the Netherlands, Germany and South Africa at Tokyo 2020 and played Spain in Rio 2016. GB men will reunite with hosts France on the Olympic stage for the first time Mexico 1968.
The teams participating at Paris 2024 have been placed in their respective Pools on the basis of the FIH World Rankings at 23:59 CET on 21 January 2024 and in the following order:
Pool A: teams ranked 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th and 12th
Pool B: teams ranked 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th
The 12 teams per gender have qualified for the Olympic Games either as hosts, winner of their Continental Qualifier or Top 3 finisher of their FIH Olympic Qualifier.
Great Britain will continue their Olympic preparations at the FIH Pro League where you can watch both teams in action in London at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre from 1-12 June.
GB men will play Ireland, India, Spain and Australia, whilst the women will compete against United States, India, China and Australia across 12 days of thrilling hockey action.
